California Privacy Notice

Who this applies to

This notice supplements our privacy policy and applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. Residents of other states with comparable laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas — have similar rights, and we handle those requests the same way.

What we collect and who we disclose it to

In the last twelve months we have collected the following categories of personal information. We collect it from you directly when you complete a form or contact us, automatically when you use the site, and occasionally from advertising partners whose pages you submitted an enquiry through.

We retain each category for as long as needed for the purpose described in our privacy policy, and afterwards as required for legal, tax and record-keeping purposes or to defend a claim.

Sale and sharing

We do not sell your enquiry information, and we do not sell or share sensitive personal information. The information you give us about your injury goes to the law firm we introduce you to, for the purpose of assessing your claim.

We do use analytics and advertising technologies that may transfer identifiers and site activity to those providers. Under California law, that activity may be treated as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and in some interpretations as a “sale”. You can opt out using the methods below.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Sensitive personal information

Health information about your injury is sensitive personal information. We use it only to assess your enquiry and to introduce you to a law firm, which are uses for which the right to limit does not require us to stop. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you and we do not use it for advertising.

Your rights

• Know and access. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
• Delete. Request deletion, subject to exceptions — for example where we need it to complete a transaction you asked for, to comply with a legal obligation, or to defend a legal claim.
• Correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of sale or sharing. Direct us not to share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
• Limit use of sensitive personal information. To the extent it applies to how we use it.
• Non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service for exercising any of these rights.

How to make a request

• call 800-589-3204;
• or use the contact form and choose “Privacy, data or opt-out request”.

We will verify your identity before acting, normally by confirming details of the enquiry you submitted. We will acknowledge within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, extendable by a further 45 days where necessary, and we will tell you if we need the extension.

Authorised agents. An agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission signed by you, and we may contact you to confirm it.

Global Privacy Control. We honour the GPC signal where your browser sends one and treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code section 1798.83 allows California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
